New Year, New Mindset: 7 Changes for a Better, Healthier 2021

At this time last year, we were excited to begin a new year and a new decade. Outlaw FitCamp was working to help clients meet their fitness goals for 2020 and busy opening new franchise locations.

Then COVID-19 hit and changed everyone’s world. Through this difficult year, we’ve still been working with clients and many have found success. But COVID presented some unprecedented challenges to our community and our industry.

This year was nothing like we expected, but next year promises to be better. We want to assure you that you can have a healthier and happier 2021. And we’re here to help you succeed!

1)  Outlaw FitCamp has adjusted and adapted to make your workouts safe

We’ve taken many safety measures to protect our members and staff during the pandemic. These include:

  • Redesigned classes now allow for social distancing. Individuals exercise in cells measuring 7 by 11 feet with no rotations between stations before sanitation
  • Members do not touch equipment that hasn’t been sanitized
  • An outside hygiene company sprays disinfectant weekly all over the studio and equipment.
  • Temperatures are taken at the front door

2) Heard of the Freshman 15?

You’ve heard of the typical 15 pounds that many college students gain during their freshman year. Well, how about the COVID 15? We’ve heard from plenty of people that this pandemic has made it more difficult to keep up a healthy lifestyle. It changed our normal routines. If you’ve lost some fitness or gained weight during these past several months, you are definitely not alone! We’re here to help you get back on track and get your new normal back.

3) Make a mindset change for this new year

At Outlaw FitCamp, we emphasize the importance of knowing the WHY of your fitness goals. Do you want to look better? Improve a health condition? Keep up better with your kids or grandkids? Compete in a race?

Whatever your reasons for wanting to get more fit, you have to keep the “why” in mind as you work toward your goal. If your “why” isn’t a strong enough desire to motivate you to do the hard work, you won’t succeed. Make sure you think through why you want to become more fit. Then write it down and post it somewhere you can see it for a constant reminder. The WHY makes all the difference!

4) Prioritize your spending

Be honest. How much did you spend at Starbucks last year? Or on take-out? If you don’t hire a personal trainer because you think it’s too expensive, think again. You may have some costly habits that you could replace with a new habit of working out with a personal trainer at about the same cost. Just think how much healthier you’ll be and how much better you will feel. There are almost always places where someone can cut the expense of unhealthy habits and replace that cost with personal training or group exercise classes—a much better choice.

5) Now is the perfect time to make your health a priority

The years are ticking by—don’t put off making your health a priority! Make 2021 the year when you finally focus on fitness.

Let those around you know that it’s your priority and then surround yourself with people who will help you be successful. Good health is one of the most important things you can have, so give it the attention it deserves.

6) Change your habits

Even many of us who had good habits have let some of them go during the past year. Replacing unhealthy habits with healthy ones will help you reach your fitness goals. Maintaining a healthy weight, getting regular exercise, eating fruits and vegetables…slowly and surely when you start practicing healthier habits, your body will respond.
