Valentine’s Day is on Monday this year. Get away from the old candy and flowers routine and try something more active or fun. It’s always good to explore something different and it’s better for you, too!
Here are 10 fun date activities to consider when celebrating Valentine’s Day this year. They run from free to pricey, but there are a wide variety of fun date-night possibilities in our area.
1) Dallas sky tour
We’ll start out with one of the pricier ones, but one of the most memorable too.
If you want to impress your Valentine, head to Delta Charlie’s Bar & Grill for their annual Valentine’s Day Dinner & Flight. They offer a three-course dinner and a 30-minute, private sightseeing airplane tour with spectacular views of the beautiful and iconic Dallas skyline.
Reservations are required. Call 972 655 6665 for more info.
2) The Hot Chocolate 15K/5K Race
Celebrate Valentine’s a little early by racing in Allstate’s Hot Chocolate 15K/5K race in Fair Park on February 12. Runners will enjoy a delicious post-race party with a finisher’s medal and a mug filled with chocolate fondue, dippable snacks, and hot chocolate. The race raises funds to support the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, so you’ll be helping an amazing organization while participating.
3) Stay in and cook a healthy meal together
There’s something very romantic about cooking a meal together, and now would be the perfect time to cook a new, healthy recipe that you haven’t taken to the time to try yet.
4) Go dancing
Dancing for just one hour can burn up to 500 calories, improve your strength, and work on toning those muscles! Get out on the dance floor and dance the night away. Google dance clubs near me and you’ll see a good list.
5) Explore the Dallas Museum of Art
If you haven’t visited the Dallas Museum of Art lately, this is the perfect time to go!
The museum hours are
Tuesday–Thursday: 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Friday: 11:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
General admission to DMA is always free to view the museum’s collection and most exhibitions.
6) Take a hike
There are some beautiful trails near the lakes in our area—Lewisville Lake and Lake Grapevine. If weather permits, take a romantic Valentine’s stroll along the lake trails.
7) Up, up, and away
Rohr Balloons offers hot air balloon rides over the metroplex. This would definitely be a fabulous and memorable Valentine’s celebration!
The cost starts at $239 (per person) for a group flight (2 to 10 people) in a larger balloon. Or if you want to really splurge, you can have a private flight with the pilot for $845. The latter includes champagne after the flight and photos. For more information, call 214-733-9915.
8) Book a couple’s massage
Besides being terribly romantic, massages offer health benefits as well. Professional massages improve circulation, reduce stress, and help repair tissue injuries. Lots of spas in our area offer couples massages.
9) Saddle up
A horseback ride is great exercise and a romantic date. And we’re in Texas, so there are plenty of places nearby that can accommodate you. Horseback riding has been shown to improve your posture, get your heart rate up, and increase your cardiovascular health. So, saddle up!
10) Work up a sweat!
Last, but definitely not least, take a FitCamp class or book some personal training with Outlaw FitCamp. We’ve seen firsthand the success that comes when couples train together. For this reason, spouses or significant others always train at Jesse James Fit for FREE. There can’t be a more important and long-lasting gift for the special someone in your life than enrolling in personal training for the both of you. Give us a call!
